WEST LOS ANGELES
West Los Angeles, also called the Westside or Los Angeles Westside, is defined as the portion of Los Angeles, California that lies east of the Pacific Ocean, west of Fairfax Avenue south of the Santa Monica Mountains and north of Los Angeles International Airport. Jenys Flowers delivers fresh flowers to all Westside locations.
It includes the communities of Westwood, Mar Vista, Palms, Brentwood, Culver City, Bel-Air, West Hollywood, Century City, Rancho Park, Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, Cheviot Hills, Beverlywood, Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Sawtelle, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica and the canyons. To locals, there is a nuance to the term, in which "West L.A." is used to describe all the parts of the area that aren't particularly defined, as well as some of the lesser known neighborhoods. The 310 area code covers much of West Los Angeles. Its eastern boundary is La Cienega Boulevard which runs through West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Beverlywood, Culver City and Ladera Heights.
Some definitions of the "Westside" include those portions of West Hollywood that are east of Fairfax Avenue and the neighboring community of Hancock Park, best known as the site of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits.
Many major tourist, educational, and cultural attractions of Los Angeles are in this area, as is much of the entertainment industry.
The Los Angeles Westside is associated with having affluent white majority populations.
Palms is a lower middle-class neighborhood in West Los Angeles. bounded by the San Diego Freeway to the southwest, Culver City to the southeast, and the Santa Monica Freeway to the north. The oldest community in West Los Angeles, Palms was founded in 1886 at a midpoint on an electric rail line between Los Angeles and Santa Monica. In 1915, during the short term of mayor Charles E. Sebastian, the residents of Palms voted to be annexed to Los Angeles. The neighborhood boasts two unusual museums, the Museum of Jurassic Technology and the Center for Land Use Interpretation. It also boasts a large number of Indian and Pakistani restaurants and businesses.

This 17% is the largest percentage of African-Americans west of La Cienega Blvd. General population is upwards of 50,000 persons and household income is roughly $45,000 annually.
Culver City was founded by Harry Culver in 1913 and the city was incorporated in 1917. The first film studio in Culver City was built by Thomas Ince in 1918. In the 1920s, silent film comedy producer Hal Roach and Metro Goldwyn Mayer would build studios in Culver City. During Prohibition, speakeasies and nightclubs such as the Los Angeles branch of the Cotton Club would line Washington Boulevard near the studios. In the 1960s, much of the MGM lot was sold off to build condominiums.
The city is surrounded by the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Mar Vista, West Los Angeles, Palms and Beverlywood on the north, Westchester on the south and southwest Los Angeles on the east, with the neighborhoods of Venice and Marina Del Rey to the west.
