History
Palos Verdes Estates is one of four cities of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, situated on the hills above the Pacific Ocean in one of the most scenic areas of Southern California . Most of the Peninsula, originally part of an 1827 land grant to the Sepulveda family, remained a rural, sparsely populated community until the early 1920s. During the early 1900's farms and ranches covered the palos verdes hills. Concerned by the rapid growth of Los Angeles just a few miles away, early residents carefully planned their community's development to feature attractive functional structures which celebrated the area's coastal beauty. Palos Verdes Estates was incorporated in1939.

Verdes Estates its reputation as a "garden suburb."
